Photographing a wedding at Grace Wedding Venue & Event Center

Indoors, the light is our job rather than the sun's. We light the ceremony and the dance floor with intention — enough to see faces, never enough to notice — and we find the best daylight nearby for the portraits.

From coastal estates to city hotels, Portland weddings carry a traditional rhythm: church or garden ceremony, formal portraits, a seated dinner. We run the family formals quickly and quietly so the rest of the evening can be candid. If we have not worked Grace Wedding Venue & Event Center yet we visit it before your day — light, timing, logistics — so nothing about the venue is a surprise on the morning of.

At Grace Wedding Venue & Event Center the sun sets at 8:24 PM in June and 5:57 PM in October, with golden hour opening around 7:40 PM on a June evening and 6:13 PM in late September. Start a summer ceremony near 5:39 PM and you will still have the good light for portraits; in autumn move it an hour earlier. The full month-by-month table is on our Portland page.
